Volunteering at Nenagh Neptune

Nenagh Neptune Swimming Club relies on the dedication and generosity of our volunteers. Without the support of parents and guardians, we would not be able to provide the safe, enjoyable, and high-quality environment our swimmers deserve. We aim to make volunteering as enjoyable and rewarding as the swimming experience itself — fun, learning, and continuous improvement are for everyone.

To ensure the club runs safely and in line with Swim Ireland policies and Irish Law, we ask that at least one parent/guardian from each swimming family commits to volunteering.

There are four main volunteering duties that need to be covered:

  • Person on Duty (POD) - Sign Code of Conduct, but does not require Safeguarding or Garda Vetting unless you are volunteering more than twice a week.
  • Team Manager (TM) - Must sign Code of Conduct, complete Garda Vetting, Safeguarding 1, and complete the Team Manager course (Online).
  • Race Official - Must sign Code of Conduct, complete Garda Vetting, Safeguarding 1, and complete the Club Official course (Online).
  • Committee Member - Must sign Code of Conduct, complete Garda Vetting, and Safeguarding 1.

Volunteering Requirements

1. Code of Conduct

Parents/guardians and swimmers must review, sign, and submit the Nenagh Neptune Code of Conduct.
Forms should be returned to a committee member or emailed to [email protected].
(This aligns with Swim Ireland's safeguarding expectations for clubs.)

2. Garda Vetting (Mandatory for Adults & 16/17-Year-Olds)

All volunteers aged 16 and over must complete the official Swim Ireland Garda Vetting process.
Vetting must be renewed every three years, as required by Swim Ireland.

  • Adults (18+) must complete the NVB vetting process through Swim Ireland.
  • Volunteers aged 16–17 must also be vetted and require a Parent/Carer Consent Form.

For assistance with vetting, please contact: [email protected]

3. Safeguarding Level 1 Course

Anyone supporting the club in a coaching, team management, or official gala role must complete the Swim Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 (3-hour classroom) course.

To express interest or register for training, email [email protected]

Courses for volunteers

Nenagh Neptune Swimming Club works closely with Swim Ireland to ensure all volunteers are trained, supported, and confident in their roles.

As part of club membership, we encourage at least one family member to complete one of the many Swim Ireland Officials or Team Manager courses offered throughout the year.
These courses are typically delivered online, and they help ensure the club remains compliant and safe when attending galas and events. Parents’ participation is highly valued by our swimmers and coaching team.

To view current Swim Ireland courses, please visit their official training and education listings (via Swim Ireland website).
